After both series opened yesterday, the Blackhawks and Bruins enjoy 1-0 leads on their prospective races to the Cup Finals. Chicago got there by dominating play and squeaking by with a 2-1 victory. Boston got there by embarrassing the Penguins into shades of their terrible exit at the hands of the Flyers last year. Crosby thought it would be a good idea to trash talk Chara, who had to bend over to laugh in his face while Malkin dropped the gloves with Patrice Bergeron and then watched from the Box as Boston extended their lead in the third period.
Just one game today. Chicago and Los Angeles face off at 8:00 tonight on NBCSN and probably some Canadian networks too.
Dave Bolland will keep his place in the lineup despite jumping into a hit against Mike Richards last night which turned the Kings forward's head into the principal point of contact.
C'est la vie, I guess. I wonder if either Matt Cooke or Brad Marchand will at least face a phone call for their own dirty shots in last night's game
