Stuff happened in game 5 between the Hawks and Kings last night, but I'm writing this before the 2nd OT period starts, so all I can say is that it's hilarious the Hawks were less than 10 seconds from ending the series before the Kings took it to extra periods Patrick Kane last night scored more goals than the entire Penguins squad did against the Bruins.
Who cares though? The Griffins played and won. They beat the Syracuse Crunch 3-1 on Saturday Night to put them ahead 1-0 in the Calder Cup Finals. This was only Syracuse's 2nd loss of the playoffs. Even better the AHL Live feed worked very well. The camera work was fairly good (although not perfect) and the feed quality remained good. They even got a scoreboard/clock overlay onto it before the end of the 2nd.
Syracuse is missing some people, including bad-ass D man Radko Gudas. I don't know that it necessarily makes all the difference, but the Griffins have Petr Mrazek to thank for this victory. After the first, I think the Crunch carried the majority of the play. Gustav Nyquist is good though.
No NHL games on tonight, but the Griffins are back at it for Game 2. Puck drops at 6:00pm EST.
