Puck Daddy's National Hockey League of Nations: Detroit Red Wings

USA TODAY Sports

Puck Daddy is doing a summer series called the National Hockey League of Nations, where they go team-by-team picking the best player from each country to have played for their specific squad and nominated them to the League.

I got a chance to do the entry for the Red Wings, which was posted today.  Here's a sample:

Slovakia: Marian Hossa

This is my least-favorite country. We've got four players to choose from. One guy played one game for the Wings total. One guy is just now getting a full-time chance to play for the club. One guy isTomas Kopecky (hahaha...no), and the last one only played one season in Detroit and then left to sign with a division rival.

Awww, I can't stay mad at you, Marian Hossa. You can be our Slovak anytime.

You should also get a kick out of the Russian delegate, considering what we've been talking about vis-a-vis jersey retirements for the last couple weeks.

The whole post is here.

I know how a lot of you feel about Puck Daddy, but this is a fun series and I enjoyed writing it. Just know that if they were really that anti-Wings, they wouldn't let a loathsome homer like me write this.
