The last time these two teams met, the Wings won on Military Appreciation Night at the Joe Louis Arena with three of their four goals coming from defensemen, including Jakub Kindl and Brendan Smith. They definitely won't have one of those scorers in the lineup tonight, but the team has been playing pretty well as of late. This will be an opportunity to put together their first three-game winning streak of the season.
The Devils currently sit 5th in the Metropolitan division with a -10 goal differential. In the same number of games, they've scored 11 fewer goals than the Red Wings and have allowed 11 more against. Their biggest story of the season is that they've played 22 games so far and Cory Schneider has started 21 of them. His .916 under such a heavy workload is keeping them afloat, as they get outshot by 4.5 shots per game.
Detroit is comfortable playing the lower-rate game that the Devils push, but they'd be better suited to have another performance where they put up more than 40 shots. I want to see the Wings really push the pace in this game.
Have fun in the comments and let's go Red Wings.
