Canada Wins Gold: Canada 3 - Sweden 0

Bruce Bennett

Well, that wasn't what I intended.

Canada defeated Sweden, thanks to goals from Toews, Crosby, and Kunitz, to win the 2014 Olympic Gold in Men's Ice Hockey.

Just like they did against the U.S., the Canadians never really allowed Sweden to get into the game. That said, Sweden had its fair share of chances, and could have taken the lead early on if a shot by Gustav Nyquist had gone in.

I credit Canada's win to the superb jobs done by Mike Babcock, Steve Yzerman, and Ken Holland. They built a winning team, and they deserve their due credit.

In the end, it doesn't really matter. Sweden is still the better overall nation.

I can go on and on, but you get the point.

Canada may have won gold, but I am still proud for winning silver. It's an honor to win an Olympic medal, regardless of whether it is gold, silver, or bronze. Sweden is still better than the U.S., Russia, and Finland. That's something that I'm proud of.

Also, the reason why Nicklas Bäckström was out of the game wasn't because he was injured, rather, he apparently tested positive for some form of allergy medicine.

Congrats Graham, Mike, Steve, and Ken, enjoy your gold.

But watch out, in 2018, the Swedes will take back what is rightfully theirs.

Heja Sverige!
