I just want to make a quick note on my thoughts of the David Legwand trade.
Prior to hearing the rumors that Järnkrok was the prospect who was heading to Nashville, I was feeling alright with the trade. We had acquired a player who, despite being a rental, does help solve a current need.
Once the rumors that Järnkrok was a part of the trade were confirmed, I, along with all of you, felt that Holland had completely lost his mind. I mean, I wouldn't trade Calle Järnkrok for David Legwand one-for-one. And I still wouldn't.
But, my opinion on the matter quickly changed due to all of the reports that Järnkrok may want to return to Sweden. If those are in fact true, and he does bolt back to Sweden, then Holland will have come out of this trade looking like a genius.
Dumping off a prospect who doesn't intend on having the NHL in his future in exchange for a player who steps in as the highest-scoring active player on your roster.
I would do that trade over and over again. Any day of the week.
