Gordie Howe is by far the greatest. There is no debate there. Whether to chose Ted Lindsay or Brendan Shanahan as the second greatest is a bit more difficult. I'll go with Lindsay.

I do not view Marchenko as a better player than Sproul or Ouellet, but he certainly has the talent to be an NHL defenseman. For a 7th-round draft pick, you really cannot complain.
It is really tough to chose between these two. For my grandfather, Howe would certainly be the choice. But, for myself, who never saw Howe play, I will have to go with Stevie Y.

Just like last season, I felt that the Stars improved the most. They added both Spezza and Hemsky, and they employ Jim Nill, which is always a nice plus.

Missing the playoffs can ignite a fire in a team, but it does not guarantee it. For the Capitals, a change was obviously necessary. When you have players like Ovechkin you have to perform better in the playoffs.
