NHL All-Star Draft 2015: Time, TV schedule, rules and live stream

Hello, and welcome to the most-important day on the NHL calendar. That’s right, tonight we get to see the 2015 NHL All-Star Game Fantasy Draft! I know, you’re probably telling yourself that there are something like 250-350 days more important than this one for the NHL in a year, but I’m here to tell you that you’re probably right, but I’m going to watch this thing anyway because it entertains me.

Here are all the pertinent details on the when and how to watch this thing:

Time 8:00pm EST
Place Columbus, OH
Television NBCSN, SN, TVA Sports

All we’re doing tonight is picking the teams. The format is a fantasy draft where the two captains and their assistants take turns selecting players to fill out their rosters of three goalies, six defensemen, and twelve forwards. With three people already on each team, there will be 18 rounds. Teams are required to have all three goalies selected by the end of round 10 and have to have all six D-Men chosen before the end of round 15, guaranteeing that a forward will once again be the very last All-Star player picked. First selection will be determined by a puck flip. One trade will be allowed between the captains as well.

For the rookies, the league is going to split them into two groups of three and then the captains will choose their group between the 11th and 12th rounds. A new puck flip will determine who gets to choose first there. This only matters for the Skills Competition though.

The Teams

It was very nice (and smart) of the NHL to put Rick Nash on a team already and to put him against the hometown captain. It would have been awkward to have the guy who defined the Columbus franchise before demanding to be traded away sitting in the draft pool essentially unselectable by one of the captains. To make up for the advantage of having Nash already assigned to Toews’ team, they also not only split Toews from Patrick Kane, but gave Team Foligno one of their six defensemen early.

Nick Foligno Team Captain Jonathan Toews
Black Ugly Jersey Color White
Drew Doughty Alternate Captain Ryan Getzlaf
Patrick Kane Alternate Captain Rick Nash

Seriously though… All-Star Captain Nick Foligno. LOL
