Maple Leafs Blog: Pension Plan Puppets

Well, well, well. If it isn't Mike "Moneybags" Babcock, and his team filled with fringe NHL talent. That's right, former Red Wings bench boss Mike Babcock is back in town, this time representing not only a new team, but a team that is on the opposite spectrum of the Wings. The Leafs are under construction, we all know that. They're going to sign a bunch of players off of PTO and then turn around and sell them at the deadline for draft picks. I'll admit, they're doing a good job so far even though they completely slipped on the trade that sent Phil Kessel to Pittsburgh.

In her PPP game preview Achariya interviewed Michelle, along with Emily Wang of Pension Plan Puppets, about tonight's matchup, and the team and coaching matchup in general. You can give it a read here!

Okay, enough about the Leafs. No one cares about that team right now. Toronto is fixated on the Blue Jays, so for once, the Maple Leafs aren't making the hockey world completely insufferable.

Yesterday was an off day for the Wings, so we don't have much of an idea what the lines will look like tonight. You can expect that Danny DeKeyser will not be in the lineup as he is out with a leg injury. Jeff Blashill did say that he will go with his "real" lines that we could possibly end up seeing in the regular season. I imagine we'll see Jimmy Howard in net, but as soon as we get the line combinations, we will update all of you lovely folks. Be excited! It's finally October.

By the way, this post will serve as our game thread, so don't forget!
