2016 NHL Draft Rumors: Red Wings Linked to Logan Stanley, Plus One Last Mock Draft

A little late for inclusion in (our) Corey’s mock draft breakdown earlier, ESPN Insider’s Corey Pronman released his final mock this morning ($). Not only did we get a mock pick out of it, but Pronman dropped a ripe rumor regarding the Red Wings’ intentions in the first round.

“I’ve heard some chatter on Logan Stanley being the guy for Detroit, but I’m skeptical of that rumor. It would be an out-of-character selection for the Red Wings, given his mediocre offensive upside.”

Stanley is a 6’7″ defenseman from nearby Kitchener, Ontario, which, given the Red Wings’ pride in defending their backyard, could be further fueling this rumor. Couple this with the team’s years-long infatuation with Very Large Men and you’ve got yourself some solid rumor material. That said, Stanley isn’t expected to go before pick 20, so I’m inclined to agree with Corey. As for his actual mock selection, Pronman went with Kieffer Bellows, a player Kyle profiled as a potential Red Wings pick.

“Minnesota product Bellows makes a lot more sense as a big-time goal scorer with a large frame. Also, Detroit can afford to be patient with him as he heads to college.”

If you’d like to know more about Kieffer Bellows, go read Kyle’s draft profile linked above. If it’s immense defensemen like Logan Stanley that intrigue you, check out the following:

So there you have it, our (likely) final piece of pre-2016 NHL Draft coverage. Feel free to come say hi in the Live Chat.
