After a thrilling win in Philadelphia for the first time since 1997, the Red Wings will return home to square up with the Canucks of Vancouver.
The Canucks have been touted as one of the worst teams in the NHL, and the stats don’t lie. In their last 10 games, Vancouver is 1-8-1 and have the second-worst goal differential in the entire NHL (-14). This game, for the Red Wings, should be more than winnable. The Red Wings will surely need to focus on the Sedin twins, who still work off of that wizard-like Swede-duo magic that always seems to put up ridiculous goals against them.
The Red Wings have struggled in some areas, but their last outing showed us that they can make great things happen when they lean on the right players. Andreas Athanasiou was the hero after he scored a gorgeous game-tying goal, and then the shootout-winner. I look for big performances from a fast AA, Dylan Larkin, and Darren Helm against a sluggish Vancouver defense.
