Canadiens Blog: Eyes on the Prize
The good news is that the Red Wings have strung two wins together on the back of some spectacular play in goal by Jimmy Howard. The other good news, Anthony Mantha has been recalled to the team and will make his season debut tonight. Mantha has two NHL goals, and both of them came against the Canadiens. It is not all good news though.
If the Red Wings want to extend their winning ways to three games they are going to have to do it against the team with the best record in the NHL right now. The 10-0 drubbing from Columbus aside, the Canadiens have been very difficult to play against in the early part of the season with Carey Price back in goal and the additions of Shea Weber, Andrew Shaw and Alexander Radulov over the summer. The worse news for the Wings though is that the reason Mantha is up is because they had to place Andreas Athanasiou on IR with a sprained knee. This will be another chance for the Red Wings to test themselves against one of the best teams in the NHL and a real chance for Mantha to grab a hold of a roster spot and not let go.
