The Big Story
Hall of Fame induction ceremony filled with passion - By: Dan Rosen: NHL.com
Eric Lindros, Sergei Makarov, Rogie Vachon and the late Pat Quinn were all inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame Monday night. I always love listening to and reading about these types of ceremonies because it serves as a reminder just how great hockey (and sports in general) is. Whether it was Lindros reminiscing about skating in backyard rinks, Makarov thanking everyone who instilled the love for the game in him, Vachon honoring his late wife of 44 years or Kalli Quinn sharing stories of Pat Quinn’s time in Toronto, each instance showed how hockey brings us all together. Congratulations to each of these legends!
In Red Wings Land
Speaking of reminiscing, the rosters for the Centennial Classic alumni game were announced yesterday. And yes, even though Brendan Shanahan is the president of the Maple Leafs organization, he’ll be suiting up for the Red Wings. Two notable absences for the Wings alumni: Steve Yzerman and Chris Osgood. At least we’ll get to see Mickey Redmond skating around out there without a helmet on. I wonder if he uses his catchphrases while he’s playing too. “Holy jumpin’! Hold it right there, gang!”
