The Big Story
Flames’ Gaudreau suffers broken finger, will undergo surgery - By: Emily Sadler: Sportsnet
Hall expected to miss 3-4 weeks with torn meniscus in left knee - By: Jared Clinton: The Hockey News
Steven Stamkos out indefinitely with lateral meniscus tear - By: Sean Leahy: Yahoo Sports
I guess “The Big Story” is really three separate stories which I’m combining into one for today. In a few short hours yesterday it was announced that Johnny Gaudreau, Taylor Hall and Steven Stamkos will all miss some time with various injuries.
This definitely is not a good day for the NHL, 3 of its biggest stars are now going to be on the shelf for a few weeks.
Twitter user “DevilsInTheDetails” (how aptly named) is noticing a trend here.
@wyshynski @YahooSports First Hall trade, then Stamkos signing same day....then Hall announced knee surgery....then Stamkos...same day

In Red Wings Land
Continuing on with our theme of injury updates, we’ve got some news on Darren Helm, Thomas Vanek and Andreas Athanasiou.
While Vanek is expected to be ready to go for Sunday’s game, it looks like Darren Helm will be out an extended period of time with a dislocated shoulder. At least 6 weeks is the preliminary estimate Blashill told reporters yesterday. Athanasiou is also expected to miss at minimum, 2 more weeks with a knee injury.
Get well soon guys!
