On a night where the longest losing streak in American sports was broken, two continued for the Red Wings. Their winless streak in Philadelphia extended to 12 games, stretching all the way back to 1997, and they failed to put a tally in the W column for the third straight game.

Positivity Corner: the loser point the Wings picked up on Wednesday night was the first earned in those 12 games at Wells Fargo. Progress!

Er, anyway. The Wings welcome Winnipeg, who are winless this week, to wreak their own wrath upon them. The Jets are coming off three straight losses themselves, including a home-and-home with the Capitals. Don’t be fooled by the fact that Winnipeg played last night in DC; they rallied from a 3-0 hole at the beginning of the third period to force overtime (and nearly took the lead before it could get that far) before falling to Ovechkin’s slapshot in the extra frame.

Detroit has had a day of rest since the Philadelphia game, but expect the Jets to be still riding that comeback high, at least for a little bit. Weathering the initial push from the visitors should put the Red Wings in prime position to take the game over and earn two points.

Connor Hellebuyck should be starting for Winnipeg as Hutchinson played last night. Petr Mrazek will take the opposite net in a battle of young standout goalies.
