The Red Wings have a handful of players that will be playing in today’s World Cup festivities, including some head-to-heads.
Here’s how to watch Monday’s games via TV broadcast or stream:
Monday, Sept. 19
Team Europe vs. Team Czech Republic, 3 p.m.
TV Broadcast: ESPN, SN, TVA Sports
Live Stream: WatchESPN
Team Russia vs. Team North America, 8 p.m.
TV Broadcast: ESPN2, SN, TVA Sports
Live Stream: WatchESPN
As of now, we are unsure who will get the start for Team Czech Republic. After being shellacked by Team Canada in a 6-0 rout, the Czech coaching staff may elect to give Michal Neuvirth a rest, and start Petr Mrazek. This should be a fun game to watch — Team Europe proved to the world that they can hang in this tournament after a 3-0 win over Team USA, and Team Czech Republic should have a chip on their shoulder after being tossed around by the heavily-favored Team Canada.
Dylan Larkin and Team North America will be squaring up against Alexey Marchenko and Team Russia. This is sure to be one of the first real tests for the young guns, as Russia is a star-studded team with players like Evgeni Malkin, Pavel Datsyuk, and Artemi Panarin. The big question mark for the Russians is defense, so I expect Team North America to utilize their great speed and skill to neutralize an already pedestrian Team Russia blue line. After a 4-1 win over Team Finland, it is clear that Team North America is not to be taken lightly. I think I speak for all of us in that the hockey world is cheering for the young guns.
