It’s that time of year again! Time for our writers to make some BOLD predictions about the upcoming hockey season. If you haven’t experienced this series before, our writers break into groups of three or four, and each make five BOLD predictions for the 2017-18 season. We then respond to our other group members’ predictions.

If you missed yesterday’s first round of predictions, you can go read them here.

Feel free to put your own predictions in the comments and/or respond to our predictions in the comment sections.

Today’s group is Sara (helmerroids), Mike M (MikeyIsViral), John (jmcurran28) and me, Peter.

Enjoy the predictions, and come back tomorrow for our last group of picks!

1. Jimmy Howard starts 50+ games for the Red Wings this season

Mike: And injures his groin like he did in Washington during start #50.

John: I think he will play more games this season, I don't know about 50 though.

Peter: Recieves 50 goals in goal support from teammates.

2. Danny DeKeyser has fewer points than Jonathan Ericsson

Mike: Because Ericsson is traded to the Oilers and plays 10 games behind McDavid. Only beats Dekeyser by 1 point.

John: And have a Thunderdome-esque fight at the end of the season.

Peter: Both have fewer points that any one of Sara's Red Wings tweets has likes.

3. Martin Frk scores 5+ powerplay goals as a Red Wing

Mike: In a week. Is promptly removed from the PP now that it's "clicking", replaced with Luke Gritkowski.

John: I have no issue with this prediction.

Peter: In the first month

4. Henrik Zetterberg never misses more than 2 games in a row all season

Mike: Still plays fewer than 30 games. This is mathematically possible.

John: Henrik Zetterberg never misses a single game in 2017-18

Peter: "I wouldn't say I've been missing it, Bob"

5. The Golden Knights make the playoffs

Mike: But in which sport? College of Saint Rose has several Division II athletic programs...

John: (In robot voice) IN THE FUTURE!

Peter: ...of their fantasy hockey league

1. Coreau starts 0 games for the Wings this season.

Sara: And he gets claimed on wavers by the Golden Knights at some point

John: You forgot to type the "1" before the "0"

Peter: And nothing of value was lost.

2. Tomas Tatar finishes the season with more points than Henrik Zetterberg, but fewer goals than Anthony Mantha.

Sara: And I will be entertained

John: Tatar finishes with more points and goals than both

Peter: People still complain because of the timing of his points.

3. Andreas Athanasiou finishes the season with more points than Dylan Larkin.

Sara: And causes Larkin to lose the Red Wings MVP award despite winning the popular vote

John: KHL points dont count

Peter: And learns Russian

4. Kronwall finishes the season with a higher TOI/GP than Trevor Daley.

Sara: And announces he will be in great shape to play next season

John: After his knee is replaced with a mechanical Star Wars implant

Peter: I will lose my mind if this happens.

5. The Wings will have a pick in the top-5 of the '18 Entry Draft, obtained via trade.

Sara: We will immediately trade that pick to get rid of a bad contract.

John: Wings will have a top-five pick obtained by regular season losses. And that's fine.

Peter: So they'll have two top 5 picks?

1. Alex DeBrincat will win the Calder Trophy

Sara: TELL ME ONE MORE TIME THAT HICKETTS IS TOO SMOL FOR THE NHL. I will fight anyone. Including Alex DeBrincat.

Mike: I think you mean Calder CUP. For the Griffins. Cuz they'll repeat after acquiring DeBrincat.

Peter: ...plush toy at the county fair.

2. Patrik Laine will score more goals than Auston Matthews

Sara: I look forward to the Toronto media declaring Matthews a bust by January.

Mike: In the playoffs. Tough to score while you're golfing. Thanks, Leafs fans, I'm here all week... don't forget to tip your waitress.

Peter: I agree with this one. Matthews will have more points though.

3. Six Red Wings' forwards will score at least 20 goals in 2017-18

Sara: Bringing the Red Wings 2017-2018 goal total to... *calculator noises* ... 121.

Mike: After being sent down to finish the year in Grand Rapids. The DeBrincat trade will really help this.

Peter: I think you mean "will meet" at least 20 goals. Three are already on track to read a book every month.

4. Kronwall will be on LTIR before the end of the season

Sara: Anthony Mantha is going to wake up in a bathtub full of ice with no knees

Mike: He may even be there before the start of the season. Obvious prediction is obvious.

Peter: And the ice will be resurfaced after each period.

5. Edmonton will win the Western Conference Championship

Sara: Lead by ace Oilers' goaltender, Petr Mrazek.

Mike: And the refs won't have to hand it to them like they did in Crosby's early days. Yeah, never gonna let go of 2009.

Peter: And David Staples will write a column saying it was becase of Milan Lucic.

1. Josh Ho-Sang will win finish in the top three for the Calder Trophy this season

Sara: He has a personality and is therefore ineligible to win any awards or represent the NHL in any way

Mike: Because 20 other rookies were injured.

John: Won't finish in the top-ten

2. Anthony Mantha leads the Red Wings in goals

Sara: Grandthony Manthpa (Andre Pronovost) sends him a candygram for every goal

Mike: And is 1 of 2 Wings to finish with at least 35 goals. We still end up as a lottery team.

John: As well as game-winning goals

3. Carolina wins at least one playoff series

Sara: After the team is moved to Boise (let's go Idaho Garnet Shushbugs!)

Mike: In the NFL.

John: In 2019-20

4. Washington finally beats Pittsburgh in the playoffs, only to lose in the next round

Sara: And add another banner to the rafters - "Eliminated the Penguins 2017-2018"

Mike: Tough to win when Ovi gets the book thrown at him for playing in the Olympics...

John: Washington wins Eastern Conference Championship

5. Charlie Hudon scores more points than any player on Las Vegas

Sara: He will never defeat elite superstar Teemu Pulkkysunshine

Mike: Both Hudon and Vegas finish the year under 35 points.

John: Googles "Charlie Hudon", no.
