In Red Wings Land

Things looking up for Red Wings in attacking zone - Detroit News
Krupa with kind of a stats-focused writeup focusing on Blashill talking about shot attempts and offensive zone time. He mentions that the Wings track these things internally and that they often differ from NHL tallies (but won't tell us how). For the record, and naturalstattrick both agreed that Detroit had the advantage in Corsi (although Corsica showed Ottawa led in expected goals thanks to more of their shots being clustered around the net-front). We've known for a while that the Wings pay attention to this stuff, but it's always a curiosity to track how it goes when they talk about it.

Golden Knights general manager George McPhee says no truth to Vadim Shipachyov report - Knights On Ice
Interesting stuff stacked on interesting stuff as the Russian speculation about Vadim Chippymoff is that he’s upset enough about being sent to the AHL (despite his $4.5M salary) that he’s looking for a way out. Of course, it’s Russian reports out of Russia so take it all with a big healthy dose of people (such as George McPhee and Slappypuff’s own agent) saying it’s all a lie. Whatever the truth is, it’s pretty understandable that it’s kind of dumb for Vegas to not have Vadim Sippycup in their lineup. Maybe we’ll see him Friday though.
