Red Wings Should Break Up Zetterberg & Mantha | Tony Wolak, The Hockey Writers

A take on the Red Wings’ current roster situation and what they might want to try in order to give their offense some sort of a boost. Splitting up Mantha and Zetterberg would spread out the talent on the team, but I don’t think I’d put Frans Nielsen in Mantha’s spot on the first line.

I’d honestly see if Andreas Athanasiou could be a solution at that spot. A pair of fresh legs on that top line could do them some good. Whatever Jeff Blashill chooses to do, I think we can all agree that the current formula isn’t working out.

Interesting note here: What do the Wings do with Martin Frk now that AA is back and (presumably) going to be on the third line with Nielsen and Helm? Does he slot back into the top-six and bump Gustav Nyquist or Justin Abdelkader down? Or do the Wings leave him on the fourth line to essentially die on the vine?

What’s Next for Shipachyov After Golden Knights Give Him Permission to Seek Trade? | Jared Clinton, The Hockey News

Some recap and analysis of the situation that’s currently going on with Vadim Shipachyov and the Golden Knights. Through three weeks of the NHL season, this saga has definitely been the weirdest to follow.

Vegas’ hot start without much contribution from Shipachyov has certainly not helped matters, but you’d have to think a smart organization would at least keep a player like him around just in case their team comes back down to Earth. They may have the best record among all expansion teams at this point in their franchise, but I suspect they’ll hit that inevitable speed bump sooner or later.
