If there is a team that rivals the Red Wings on being confusing, frustrating, inexplicable, and annoying, it’s the Flyers. They lost 10, then won 6, and then lost to the Kings. Stop me if you’ve heard this one before, but they were riding a hot goaltender, their powerplay was suddenly good, they took a lot of shots but still lost, and were weak at even strength.

And their logo is like a darkest timeline bizarro version of the Winged Wheel. If their logo was a cartoon character, it would be constantly twirling its mustache.

How’s life in Red Wings land?

We saw some guys heat up last night with Frk scoring and the Goose getting loose on the powerplay, so that’s fun, and Mrazek sure does exist you guys. It was nice to see him getting a start for once (t-r-a-d-e-b-a-i-t) although is seems unlikely he gets the back-to-back, but you know how Blash likes to keep his secrets so we’ll see who’s in the starter’s net at practice. He was moving pretty well, especially considering how little he gets actual game time, and the Wings didn’t do him any favors WITKOWSKI.

Red Wings must have left their shots at home, because I think it took like, 12 minutes into the second for us to register a shot that period. Our 7th shot of the game. The Islanders at that point had 26 shots. Why.

A lot of chatter yesterday about strategies to get Mantha back to his scoring self again, we’re all beyond ready to see him lighting the lamp every five minutes so it will be interesting to see who he ends up playing with now that he has scored. Yes. MANTHA SCORED!!!!!!!

It was a kooky goal, where Zetterberg missed, Nyquist missed, I think I took a swing at it, and then Mantha finally buried it and I hope also buried the narrative that he is bad/lazy/cursed/whatever they’ve been going with. We’ll see if that changes his spot in the linup or not, the Blashill Bingo Wheel of Doom spins ever onward.

No idea what to expect with this one, but we get to listen to NBCSN blather on all night so...yay.

Let’s Go Red Wings!
