Capitals Blog: Nucks Misconduct
The Red Wings return tonight from their CBA enforced week off to find themselves 11 points out of a playoff spot one day before the trade deadline and at the beginning of a five game/eight-day road trip that will take them through Western Canada, Toronto and Boston. We have already seen one player moved out as the Wings got a third-round pick from Chicago for Tomas Jurco and he is likely to not be the only player moved as the Red Wings find themselves as sellers at the deadline for the first time in over two decades.
Tonight, they face the equally meh Vancouver Canucks. Henrik and Daniel Sedin along with Bo Horvat lead a generally anemic Canucks offense that just became even more anemic with the trade of Alexandre Burrows yesterday to the Ottawa Senators. On top of that they have several players out with the mumps that has left a hole on a line with the Sedin twins that no one yet knows who will fill it.
Even as inconsistent as the Red Wings have been this season this is a game they should win. Here is hoping for a good game leading into what could be a crazy if not slightly surreal trade deadline.
It’s really hard to tell what the Canucks’ lines are going to look like tonight, between the Alex Burrows trade and the mumps outbreak in the locker room. We should know more by this afternoon’s Gameday Updates.
