The Big Story
Jarome Iginla confirms desire to be dealt to contender | MSN
With his career winding down and approaching 40 years of age, Jerome Iginla has made it perfectly clear that he wants out of Colorado for one more chance to chase his Stanley Cup dreams.
The news comes as no surprise really. The Avalanche are at the bottom of the NHL standings and Iginla realizes his playing days are numbered. I’m sure the Avalanche will get a few inquisitive phone calls from teams looking to add a player like Iginla before the trade deadline.
In Red Wings Land
Game plan: Jimmy Howard starts Saturday with Grand Rapids Griffins | MLive
Jimmy Howard will return to his goal crease this weekend, except it wont be with the Red Wings. All signs point to Howard reporting to Grand Rapids to do a short conditioning-stint with the Griffins. Jimmy has not played since injuring his knee on Dec. 20 against the Lightning.
The Red Wings could definitely use Howard between the pipes for the second half of the season. Before going down with an injury, Howard posted a respectable 1.96 goals-against average and .934 save percentage.
