How 'bout them Red Wings? Next to the New Jersey game a few weeks months ago, Saturday's December 17th’s game against the Ducks was one of the better games I've seen the Red Wings play this year. They were aggressive on the forecheck, moved with speed and authority in the neutral zone and gave Petr Mrazek just enough help to get the job done. I'm hoping they show some of that same stuff tonight as they kick off this long stretch of road games.
Carolina's been a .500 team all year despite their good shot metrics, so I have a feeling they're gonna give the Wings all they can handle. The Canes come into this game 13-11-7 33-27-13, one point seven points better than the Red Wings' 14-14-4 30-32-12 record. But it was the Red Wings who took the last game against the Canes 4-2 way back in October on the back of Dylan Larkin's 2 goals, one of which came on a breakaway. Another 2 goals from one of our young guns tonight would be great - I’m putting my money on Mantha. He’s been great these past few games and it’s only a matter of time before he’s rewarded with another goal!
