Gameday Updates: Detroit Red Wings at Carolina Hurricanes: Line Combinations, Key Matchups

NHL: Detroit Red Wings at Carolina Hurricanes James Guillory-USA TODAY Sports

No practice today.

Luke Glendening out with an injury, we’re assuming that Tomas Nosek will come back into the lineup for him. Petr Mrazek made the start last night, so it’s safe to say that Jimmy Howard gets the nod tonight.

Dan Renouf reassigned to Grand Rapids, so all signs point to Niklas Kronwall returning to the lineup tonight.

Players to Watch:

Anthony Mantha

A two-goal performance last night in Raleigh put a 20 goal season legitimately in reach for the big winger. Look for him to continue to press his advantage and use his size, speed and skill to create scoring chances.

Andreas Athanasiou

Much like Mantha, a 20 goal season is in reach for possibly the Red Wings most exciting and electrifying player. Hopefully he can find it in his heart to not wait until overtime to score the game winner for once.

Henrik Zetterberg

The captain has been a revelation of sorts this year as he tried to once again will the Red Wings into the playoffs. Alas it was not to be for a 26th season and with the streak potentially officially coming to an end tonight it should be interesting to see if he decides to take his frustrations out on the remainder of the Red Wings opponents this season.
