In case you somehow managed to miss it, the Red Wings long playoff streak officially ended on Tuesday night after a 4-1 loss in Carolina. The Red Wings also lost another player to injury during their trip down to Raleigh as Luke Glendening is done for the season with a fractured ankle.

So now the Red Wings find themselves in the position of spoiler, a position they have not been in a very long time. First up for them is the familiar face of the Tampa Bay Lightning. They have dealt with a ton of injury issues of their own but find themselves within three points of Boston for a Wild Card spot and four points back of Toronto for third in the Atlantic. The last time we saw Tampa they did Tampa things to the Red Wings, beating them 2-1 in overtime in the last visit to The Joe. Nikita Kucherov is still a Red Wings killer as he scored the OT goal in (somewhat controversial fashion) and with all the injuries Tampa has dealt with is the unquestioned offensive leader of the Lightning.

Lottery seeding be damned, dealing a strong blow to the Lightning’s playoff hopes will help to heal the pain of the Red Wings missing out on the post season this year and a win tonight would do just that.

The lineups are based on what the Red Wings iced for Tuesday’s game. Like always, we will have any updates for you in the update post later on today.
