Updates

Jimmy Howard is confirmed as your starter tonight.

With Anthony Mantha out for the season, here’s what the lines will look like tonight:

Keys to the Game

Don’t Do Anything Too Stupid

We have a lot of work to do this summer, and everybody needs to be in tip top shape to work hard and get ready for the beginning of next season. We have the chance to start a new era of great hockey in Detroit, but it’s going to take a lot of effort to bring this team back to the top. That means don’t do anything like punch a guy and break your finger or throw yourself under the zamboni, there’s a lot to do in the offseason and everybody needs to be ready.

Auston Matthews vs. Dylan Larkin is not a real rivalry

I’m sure they’ll bring it up and try to make it seem like a clash of the titans, but Larkin’s transition to center has been a little bumpy and he has more responsibilities than last year where he could just fly around a score goals without worrying too much about defense. Matthews is having a great season and setting himself up to be the centerpiece of the new and improved Maple Leafs going forward, but he and Larkin aren’t really competing against each other for anything other than those two points at the end of the game.
