Filip Hronek Nets Shootout Game Winner For Griffins

Defenseman Filip Hronek was assigned to Grand Rapids after his OHL Saginaw Spirit team failed to make the playoffs. Last night In just his 8th AHL game, Hronek got the nod to take a shot in the shootout against the Charlotte Checkers and boy did he make it count. His shootout goal starts at 1:51 of the video, and to make things even better, his goal is against former long time Griffin goaltender Thomas McCollum. It's not quite the standard skate in and shoot technique, but he kept his feet moving and the puck going forward so it counts. Hronek finished his rookie OHL season with 14 goals and 47 assists for 61 points in 59 games, which was the 4th highest scoring defenseman in the league. He's a very exciting prospect and I think he'll progress quickly.
