Penguins thrash Sens to put Ottawa on brink | TSN.ca

This game was a bit of a mirror image of Game 3, in which Ottawa went up 4-0 after one period on its way to a 5-1 win. Pittsburgh bounced back to win a close Game 4, so we’ll have to see how Ottawa responds for Game 6 back home. Especially if Karlsson isn’t healthy enough to be effective, the series could be on its last legs.

In Red Wings Land

Detroit Red Wings' Jared Coreau continues strong play in AHL playoffs | Helene St. James, Detroit Free Press

Jared Coreau showed a few signs last season that he could develop into a solid NHL goalie. He also showed signs that may never happen. Obviously, I’m hoping for the former. At least Helene has given up the “Red Wings may protect Coreau” nonsense:

Now the Wings have to decide where Coreau fits into their future. He had a solid exhibition season last autumn, but was sent to the minors. That scenario would be risky this coming fall, as Coreau no longer is waiver exempt. He’ll be exposed in the expansion draft in June, but the Vegas Golden Knights are unlikely to take him, as there will be a number of experienced NHL goalies from which to choose.

Vegas taking Coreau would be shocking, but certainly not outside the realm of possibility. No matter what, it’s good to see him playing well for Grand Rapids in the playoffs.
