In Red Wings Land
I’m not exactly sure what Ken Holland has been feeding Trevor Daley, but I wouldn’t mind a helping of it. Daley reiterated that he doesn’t believe that the Red Wings are in rebuild mode:
“I don’t really think rebuilding is the right word to use. And if it is, just because you’re in a rebuild doesn’t mean you can’t win, if that’s the way that they’re going,” Daley told the Jamie and Stoney Show on 97.1 The Ticket. “But Detroit just made a lot of sense, I like the talks I had with Kenny. I thought that it was a good fit for me and my family.”
Daley’s comments are a breath of fresh air in Hockeytown, especially after the Wings dismal 2016-17 season. Hopefully his positivity will become infectious to his new teammates in the upcoming 2017-18 NHL season.
Around The League
Teemu Pulkkinen has agreed to a one-year deal with the Las Vegas Golden Knights. Pulkkinen, a once beloved prospect of the Detroit Red Wings, has bounced around from Minnesota and Arizona since being let go by Detroit. It will be interesting to see if Teemu will be able to make the most out of his new opportunity with Vegas, who apparently already have a role in mind for him:
The one-way nature of the winger's contract would seem to indicate the Knights have an expanded role in mind for him, but what that looks like probably won't be determined until training camp.
