Ansar Khan has a small update on the Athanasiou situation
Darren Ferris, Athanasiou's agent, told MLive Monday that talks are ongoing with the Red Wings but a deal is not imminent. He said the KHL offer his client received remains on the table and added "Expecting to have the decision this week."
Yeah, not much new here except for the “this week” timeline. Khan also says” “A two-year bridge deal is a possibility, perhaps worth between $1.5 million and $2 million a season.”
I think it’ll end up at 2 years x 2M, give or take 100k or so.
Around the NHL
The Philadelphia Flyers announced on Monday that the club will be retiring Eric Lindros' No. 88 before a January 18 game against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame last fall, Lindros appeared in 486 games for the Flyers over eight seasons, notching 290 goals and 369 assists. He was inducted into the Flyers Hall of Fame in 2014
While Lindros never played for a team I didn’t dislike, he was a large figure in my formative hockey years. I really wish we could see the alternate timeline in which he played a full career. When he was healthy, he was one of the most dominant players I’ve ever seen.
