In Red Wings Land
Red Wings' DeKeyser: NHL made bad call on no players in 2018 Olympics
If you’re bummed out about the likelihood of NHL players not participating in the 2018 Olympics, Danny DeKeyser shares your sentiments. Like many NHL players, DeKeyser recently shared his frustration with the NHL not wanting to participate in the PyeongChang games:
"I don't think that's a very good decision," DeKeyser said after a recent youth hockey clinic at Echo Grove Camp near Oxford. "I don't know who that benefits. It hurts everybody involved – both parties (players and NHL owners) – so it doesn't really make sense."
The reality of not having NHL players participate in the next Winter Olympics is a bitter pill for most hockey fans and players to swallow. With generational talents like Auston Matthews and Connor McDavid now available to participate and play for their respective countries in 2018, not allowing NHL players to play doesn’t seem like the best move for the game.
