We’ve got a bit of a light combo morning skate/gameday updates for you because, well, this is preseason and this one isn’t even on TV:
The Matchup: Detroit Red Wings at Boston Bruins
The Location: TD Garden (Boston)
The Time: 7:00pm ET
The Enemy: Stanley Cup of Chowder
The Broadcast: No Wings tv or radio, but there is this
Bruins say tonight's preseason game vs. Red Wings will be streamed through team website and with radio call as audio.
— Ty Anderson (@_TyAnderson) September 19, 2017
There is no information right now as to whether the Bruins intend to geo-block that feed on their site, but if we learn about that, we will add that info. The radio call is from 98.5 The Sports Hub, a CBS Local Boston station, which you can listen to online.
The Enemy Roster (From SCOC here)
You can see all the names on the linked post, but Backes, Pastrnak, Krejci, Vatrano, Carlo, Krug, McAvoy, and McQuaid are the “big names”. Boston played Montreal last night to a 3-2 win with even fewer NHL regulars involved, as none of Marchand, Bergeron, or Chara will have played either preseason game after tonight.

On defense (in no pairing order):
Nick Jensen, Dylan McIlrath, Vili Saarijarvi, Brian Lashoff, Libor Sulak, Dennis Cholowski, Pat McCarron
The bottom line is that this is the very first preseason game for the Wings and they’re on the road against a more-veteran squad while the rest of the camp roster stays home in Detroit to await the Penguins tomorrow night. Parenteau is basically holding a spot for Abdelkader right now based on what we’ve heard from camp in regards to how that line has been shaking out, and they’re likely going to be close to Detroit’s third line if things stay constant throughout the preseason.
While I want to see Larkin and Mantha doing their thing, I wouldn’t mind them getting more-limited minutes. Preseason is a good time to fight for spots, but it’s also a minefield of kids trying their very hardest to get noticed for physical play and I’d rather Mantha play only 10-12 minutes than find some dipshit’s knee in mid-September.
On defense, Nick Jensen is the only D-Man likely to be on the team come opening day, but there’s plenty of opportunit for Cholowski and Saarijarvi to impress. I have a feeling the pairings will probably have Jensen, Saarijarvi, and Cholowski split up so that each of them can get a bigger, meaner partner in the remaining players.
We’ll use this post as tonight’s gamethread for those of you who want to watch. I will remind you that SBN policy prevents us from posting illegal streams and from allowing illegal streams to be posted in our comments.
Thanks and LGRW!
