Keys to the Game
Push the Pace
The Red Wings have been able to win games when they push the pace of play and use their speed to their advantage. Carolina has quietly built a quality blue line that could slow the Red Wings down. This will be a fun matchup to watch.
Carolina’s Top 6
The Hurricanes have found some balanced offense from their forwards as five of the forwards in their top six have double digits goals. You know you are starting to build some depth up front when often forget perennial 30 goal scorer Jeff Skinner is on your third line. Carolina’s forwards are not the most physical bunch but they have a lot of skill and will be a handful for the Red Wings.
The Goalies
The likelihood for a soft goal or two tonight is relatively high. It is not to say that the goalies for each team have been bad per say, more inconsistent. If either team has to rely on their goalies to stop a ton of pucks it could be a long night for them.
