David Booth, as expected, clears waivers— Ted Kulfan (@tkulfan) January 23, 2018
This resets Booth’s clock on waivers, meaning he can stay with the club for up to 30 days or 10 games played before he’d have to clear again prior to assignment to Grand Rapids. He hasn’t set foot towards a plane to Grand Rapids yet this season despite being waived two previous times, but might find himself assigned if Luke Glendening is ready to come off LTIR and once again take up a roster space.
The Wings don’t have any extra space right now with Darren Helm on IR for the Joe Hicketts call-up.
Red Wings didn't have morning skate today, but as of yesterday, expectation was Luke Glendening could be available tonight against Philadelphia.— Helene St. James (@HeleneStJames) January 23, 2018
GM Ken Holland thinks Glendening (hand) good to go tonight, but waiting for official word— Ted Kulfan (@tkulfan) January 23, 2018
Mrazek expected to go for Red Wings. Going for third straight shutout. #Flyers— Sam Carchidi (@BroadStBull) January 23, 2018
Last time Mrazek got a start and a shutout, he was rewarded with another sit-down, so it would be interesting to see him get the home start in tonight’s second leg of the back-to-back.

Keys to the Game
Powerplay? More like pooperplay.
The Wings powerplay has been...sad. But the good news is, the Flyers powerplay hasn’t been any better going 0-for-12 in their last 4 games. There wasn’t much special teams work in Jersey, but our powerplay was a snoozefest. The PK has been ok, but for the love of Joe Louis please don’t put our team on the PK by throwing unnecessary punches if the Flyers get scrappy.
Joe Hicketts had a nice debut last night playing a solid game including one nice play where he just may have saved a goal. As I said this morning, it would be great to see him stick around for at least another game or two and see how he handles it without the novelty and adrenaline of it being his first NHL game.
Kids, Children, and Assorted Young Persons.
Who would have thought Bertuzzi would slot in so nicely with Larkin and AA? Probably many of you, but in any case it’s great to see this particular Kid Line tearing it up. But it’s time for a goal from AA, it’s only fair since Larkin and Bert got one each last night. We’ve now gotten looks at Hicketts and Turgeon as well, plus Frky always in the mix, and it’s really a delight to see value being placed on these guys gaining experience.
Let’s Go Red Wings!
