The Red Wings are headed into a week-long break after this game, and they’re riding a season-high four-game win streak. They’ll be hankering to push the streak to another game and go into their break feeling good about themselves. But the Bolts are coming to town from Ottawa, where the Sens stung them to the tune of a 6-3 loss. Count on the league-leading team in blue to coming in mad. They’re on a two game losing streak, and if the Wings can top them tonight then Tampa Bay will be sent on its first three-game losing streak of the season.

If I believed in such things, I’d say the Wings are due to beat these guys since they haven’t beat them in a vigintillion years, or roughly the same amount of time since Cthulhu freely roamed the Earth. Like it or not, Tampa is currently the biggest rival the Wings have got, and the players are salty when they’re on the ice too long with one another. It’s not a question of if this game will get chippy, but when.

Expect the Wings to roll the same 11-7 line up, because that’s what has been working. The obvious exception is that Mrazek has been confirmed as getting the start in lieu of Howard’s injury against the Cats. Fingers crossed for some mrazzle dazzle.
