Devils blog: All About the Jersey

The Red Wings are on fire - and not in the way you might expect if you missed the games. This is a GOOD fire, like an NHL Hitz 2002 players on fire kind of fire. Two wins in a row, yeah!

Admittedly, those wins were weird. Weird goals, weird missing an empty net 5 times, just WEIRD. What weirdness awaits tonight? Jersey’s penalty kill may rain on our parade somewhat as we have been really good at drawing penalties.

The Devils are coming to Hockeytown having been thoroughly demolished by the Lightning on Tuesday. But earlier this month they humiliated the Caps so they’re kind of a mixed bag of a team standing at a (5-3-1) record. They’re going to be highly motivated to bounce back from their butt kicking, but sometimes that doesn’t help...

Tell me if you’ve heard this one before, a team comes out with a lot of pep in their step...and then just kinda loafs it for the next 50 minutes or so. Then they say it’s gonna be a good fight next game, but collapse again. The Devils haven’t, and shouldn’t, reach Red Wings levels of bag skatery scoldings - but there may be a lot of talk about “compete level” today.

One player we need to watch out for is obviously Taylor Hall, he only has 2 goals so far this season but he also has 10 assists. He’s a good #TeamPlayer. Nico Hischier has also been making some noise on the score sheet, so keep an eye on him too.

A few players on the Devils are on the edge of returning from injury, most importantly goaltender Cory Schneider who had offseason hip surgery and seems like he’s day to day to get an NHL start. Will tonight be the night?

In Red Wings news, with Frans, AA, and Vanek all out we’ve called up ace superstar forward *checks notes* Wade Megan to fill in at center and sent Joe Hicketts packing back to Grand Rapids in exchange.

We’ll see what the Blashill Bingo Wheel has in store for lines today with the addition of Megan!

LET’S GO RED WINGS!
