Game Preview

Everybody panic: the Red Wings are on a two game skid. On Saturday they lost to the Sabres in a shootout on Saturday, 3-2, and on Friday they lost in DC 3-1 to the Caps. Meanwhile, the Jackets are coming off a back-to-back over the weekend where they split, taking the Leafs but dropping to the Penguins by a score of 4-2 both times. The Jackets proved in the season opener at the LCA that they have some teeth this season; since then, they’ve jockeyed for the top spot in the Metro Division.

The Wings have improved a lot since their first date with the Jackets, They even pulled off a win against them on Devil’s Night, which makes tonight the rubber match. It is always fun to watch that third game of the season against a team, especially when the dates are so close to one another.

Last game ended Athanasiou’s point streak, so we will have to keep an eye on whether he gets back on the horse or if it takes him a little time to get hot again. Larkin deposited another goal into his impressive track record on this season. The Wings will have to keep an eye on Cam Atkinson and Artemi Panarin, who are producing over a point per game right now.

No word yet on any changes to the Red Wings’ roster. Jonathan Ericsson still seems to be mending, but his situation is improving. So as of now, let’s expect to the see the same squad iced as on Saturday against the Sabres. We will keep you updated as things continue today.

Same deal for the Blue Jackets. They’ve been pretty healthy this season, which is great, because that just means more FSD cuts of Larkin and Werenski having awkward dinners.
