Wings prospect Filip Zadina ‘has a long way to go,’ despite offensive outburst | Detroit News

Judging by coach Jeff Blashill’s comments after Monday’s practice, don’t hold your breath.

“Honestly, he has a long way to go,” said Blashill, which isn’t surprising when you look at Zadina’s body of work in the AHL.

Zadina has four goals on the season, having scored two goals in two different games — meaning he hasn’t scored in the other nine.

Fine by me. Let him take his time and figure things out down at the AHL level and then give us a late 9-game preview in March and April. Save that year on his entry level contract. Next season will be be the Year of Filip Zadina and he can tear it up in Detroit alongside Jack Hughes.
