The move comes after the team found out that veteran defenseman Mike Green would be sidelined for three to five weeks with an injury. According to the team, Green sustained a lower-body injury.
Hronek, a former 2nd round pick in the 2016 Draft, has flourished in the AHL this season, netting five goals, and 18 assists. The shifty rearguard previously saw six games in the NHL, where he had three goals. According to Blashill, Hronek will be in tonight’s lineup. The Red Wings take on the Ottawa Senators at 7:30pm ET. The Griffins will host the Rockford Icehogs at Van Andel Arena this evening. Puck drop for that game is set for 7:00pm ET.
