Avs blog: Mile High Hockey

Earning a single point in our last 9 games, it’s a been a great time to be a Red Wings fan. That is, if you are also a #TeamTank fan. Someone keep an eye on Zetterberg that he doesn’t just get on a different plane and fly off into the unknown, never to do another postgame interview again.

This afternoon we face down the Avs after a punch-fest with the Ducks late Friday night. You can see the Wings are frustrated, embarrassed, but don’t really know what the magic fix will make things better.

On the other hand, the Avs had a 9 game point streak (6-0-3) before dropping a hard fought match to the Preds and have gone 14-2-1 in their last 17 games at home. Did I mention the Avs are fighting to hold onto their wildcard spot? Consider them fired up and ready to roll.

Nyquist is having a grand time as he’s scored three games in a row. Bertuzzi has also been buzzing and has a fan in Zetterberg, there’s nobody better for Bert to learn both attitude and hockey skillz from. Jimmy Howard hasn’t been elite, but he hasn’t been that bad for a goalie playing with no defense in front of him. Jared Coreau...well he sure does occupy a volume of space that sometimes coincides with the geographic coordinates of the puck.

This is the worst losing streak since the Wings lost 9 straight in 1986. Anyone know the last time the Wings dropped 10 in a row?

Let’s Go Red Wings!
