Keys to the Game

Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should

While it probably doesn’t matter at this point if one of our best players breaks a hand, they should probably not do that. Mantha mentioned postgame that he squared off with Livonia Native Ryan Kesler because Kesler was messing with Larkin. “Larks is one of the All-Stars of this team so I stepped up.

Does Mantha know that HE is one of the All-Stars of this team? Blash seems to be pleased as punch (pun intended?) that Mantha is showing that GRIT, and I suppose the Ducks do bring out the worst in people. Hoping those punches helped channel the frustration with the losing streak so he can go back to scoring goals, because that’s what we need from him.

The right kind of garbage

We’ll take any win, no matter how stupid the circumstances surrounding the GWG are. Deflecting in off someone’s butt? Great. One of our old guys scoring and not able to muster more than a long-suffering look into the heavens? Perfect. Goalie breakaway goal because the universe is a Sega Genesis simulation? Love it.

Tradition

There are some traditions that we’ve had to say goodbye to, or at least suspend until we’ve rebuilt, but there is one tradition that we must preserve: being jerks to Colorado. This is the perfect game for us to win, it will mean nothing to us but means everything to them and their “every game is a big game” mentality.

We’ve played spoilers a few times this season, and it’s worth suspending the tank. It’ll never be the rivalry it was, but we can always nurture that spark of hatred until the end of time. Now get out there and ruin Colorado’s day.

Let’s Go Red Wings!
