Couldn’t resist using that pic

NHL: Philadelphia Flyers at Detroit Red Wings Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports

God, wouldn’t it be funny if Blashill ran Coreau out there against Mrazek today? The answer is no, but fortunately it’s not funny.

The Flyers also aren’t ruining this for us.

Finally, while not an actual gameday update, save the date for tomorrow if you’re in the area:

Key Matchups

Frans Nielsen vs. Valtteri Filppula

Detroit’s old 2C who turned out to be a 3C versus the guy who replaced the guy who replaced that guy. It’s Nielsen’s bobblehead night and Filppula’s vacant expression always looked vaguely bobbly anyway so I’m going to be watching them and rooting for the solid two-way center who has never quite scored enough as a Red Wing to satisfy the fans. Either way I win!

Radko Gudas vs. an angry Red Wings team

Detroit has been showing a lot more frustration of late, with the Ducks game involving three fights and Justin Abdelkader getting tossed out of Sunday’s game before it was over. Radko Gudas is a dirty head-hunting assbag who is pretty likely to bring out those frustrations. All it takes is one wrong spark and this game could go shitshow in a hurry. I really don’t want that.

Petr Mrazek vs. Jimmy Howard

They’re used to competing against one another by now. It’ll just be...different this time.
