Red Wings want Anthony Mantha to emulate James van Riemsdyk

Blashill would love to see Anthony Mantha develop into a James van Riemsdyk-caliber player. JVR is one of my favorite underrated players in the league, so I’d be 100% okay with this. It feels like Mantha gets discussed publicly a ton in the media, way more than any other player, and I’m kind of tired of hearing about it. If I was a player, I would hate this, but maybe it is because Mantha responds well to it.

The Red Wings’ will be needing a backup goaltender this summer, so it’s a good idea to keep an eye on this list. I’m really not sure where one would come from internally right now so a low-key trade to get someone serviceable might be in the offing.
