Sabres blog: Die By the Blade

It’s a race to the bottom as the tanking Wings take on the cellar-dwelling Sabres. A loss will be a big win for the losing team in this Atlantic Division match-up as we all fight for that first overall Dahlin pick.

The Red Wings (feat. Mighty Joe Hicketts) soundly defeated the Penguins on Tuesday. Shockingly they didn’t even make things that dramatic in the 3rd. Our goal scorers were not the kids, and it would be really nice if even one of them would get going for the few games we have left. However, there is also a strong chance we will completely collapse tonight because we played well last game.

The Buffalo Jack Eichel Disappointed Frowns have definitely perfected The Art of Losing™. They don’t know what’s wrong, they don’t know how to fix it, and they don’t know the secret to making the perfect waffle. But they do know that we are also Not Good, so it’s anybody’s game.

As far as solving our own problems, you’ve probably seen that the Wings are reportedly planning to keep both Holland and Blashill. You know what they say, if at first you don’t succeed, and if at second you don’t succeed, and even if at tenth you don’t succeed...I don’t know where I was going with this.

One positive for the Sabres is that tonight is the debut for shiny new Sabres forward, Casey Mittelstadt. They also only have two more home games this season (tonight and then one against the impressively implosive Sens), and since you can’t ask for a more favorable schedule than that, they may try extra hard to be good at hockey for the home fans.

P.S. Keep an eye out Elite Sabres Legend Taro Tsujimoto.
