Obviously no morning skate today with the Wings playing early enough to avoid butting up against Final Four action, but here’s some tidbits from yesterday and a notice for today that’s honestly probably too late for you if you’re not already on the way:

Keys to the Game

Shoot, shoot, shoot

As I said in the Morning Skate, Ottawa’s goalies do not have good save percentages. Detroit has had issues on and off this season with scoring goals. Look for them to find every opportunity to put the puck on net.

Get to the Net

Right in line with the first key, after getting the puck to the net they need to get bodies to the net for screen, deflection and rebounds. This is the kind of game and team that the Wings should be able to take advantage of their speed and/or size among the forwards.

Special Teams

Neither team is very good on the power play or the PK. Both are near the bottom of the league in both despite having some good individual talent. The team that can win the special teams tonight will win this game.
