In Red Wings Land
Gordie Howe’s Detroit Red Wings legacy lives on in son’s book | Freep
“Dad never lost touch with the common man — he wanted to be the common man,” Murray said. “That’s the sign of a true hero, somebody you could always depend upon to do the right thing and take care of everybody. He’s a great role model and inspiration in this day and age. I love sharing him with the world.”
Looks like I might have to add another Red Wings book to my summer reading list.
Around the League
Big Read: Why Patrice Bergeron is still underappreciated | Sportsnet
I worked for New England Sports Network up in Boston covering the Bruins for about seven years and Patrice Bergeron was easily my favorite athlete during my time there. He’s a very good hockey player and a great human being. I don’t think he’s underappreciated among hockey media and hardcore fans, but probably is when it comes to casual NHL fans. Regardless, it’s a good read over at Sportsnet and worth your time.
