Quick Hits: The Draft Rewind Edition

Detroit Red Wings v Toronto Maple Leafs

In Red Wings Land

Anthony Mantha, Tyler Bertuzzi stars of Detroit Red Wings’ 2013 draft | Freep

This was a pretty solid draft class for the Red Wings. The one move in particular that looks great is Ken Holland’s decision to trade back and drop a two spots in the first round. San Jose wanted to move up to Detroit’s pick at #18 and gave Holland #20 and #58. Those picks became the two names in the headline above: Anthony Mantha and Tyler Bertuzzi.

Other notable names in the class include Mattias Janmark and David Pope. Janmark was traded to the Dallas and has had a solid role with the Stars. Pope just signed with the Wings and it remains to be seen if he can make it at the NHL level.
