In Red Wings Land
Kronwall says this season with Red Wings could be last in NHL | NHL.com
“I know where I’m at right now. A year from now I don’t know where I’ll be at. I’d love to sign [for] another year but let’s face it. The team’s getting younger. I’m getting older. The game’s getting faster. I’m not the same player I was 10 years ago. But I’m going to do what I can this year both on the ice and off the ice. And just try to be as efficient as I possibly can.”
If this seasons ends up being the last for Niklas Kronwall, then he’s had a great Red Wings career. He was such a good 2nd pair anchor behind Nicklas Lidstrom during Detroit’s strong run in the mid-to-late 2000s. If the Wings weren’t so bloated already with old veterans, I wouldn’t mind if Kronwall stuck around on some cheap one year deals and mentored the youth while playing on the third pair.

Jimmy Howard is not very high on this list. Plus, who knows if he’s still the starting goalie come mid-season?
