“The line of Veleno, Rasmussen and Zadina all showed moments of being very good,” Blashill said. “It was great to see some of our young guys look like they’ve taken some steps and are ready for this main camp. Those three young guys, they get a chance to show what they can do on their own rather than maybe just benefiting from playing with somebody who has been in the league a long time. It’s a great opportunity for those guys.”

Kids are going to dominate. This might be the most excited I’ve been to follow camp and watch the preseason in the last five or so years.

Maybe Erik Karlsson will be available to come to Detroit? The defenseman was traded by the Senators to the Sharks, but a contract extension was not part of the whole deal. Of course, there’s still a chance it could happen between now and next July 1, but every Wings fan in the world should be rooting against that.
