In Red Wings Land

Filip Zadina shaky in debut; Detroit Red Wings win exhibition, 4-2 | Freep

I don’t know if I would call Filip Zadina’s debut “shaky,” but he definitely had a quiet night. It was his first game at the NHL level, so I don’t think it’s that big of a deal. He’ll get more opportunities as the preseason rolls on and he’s only going to get more comfortable.

Wednesday night it was Dennis Cholowski impressing on the blue line and, last night, it was Libor Sulak’s turn. He very well could earn a spot on the Red Wings opening night roster. Again, it’s one game, so we’ll see if he can keep it up.

Your goal scorers last night were Thomas Vanek, Andreas Athanasiou, Evgeny Svechnikov and Gus Nyquist.

It is a remarkable list: Lindsay, Gordie Howe (four titles each) and Delvecchio (three) of the Detroit Red Wings; Maurice Richard (eight), Jacques Plante, Dickie Moore, Bernie Geoffrion, Doug Harvey, Tom Johnson (six each) and Butch Bouchard (four) of the Montreal Canadiens; Hall, Hull, Stan Mikita and Pierre Pilote (one each) of the Chicago Black Hawks; Andy Bathgate (one) of the Toronto Maple Leafs; and Bert Olmstead, who won four times with Montreal and one more with Toronto.

Damn.
